H.M. Newsome grew up, for most of her life, in London, Ontario, Canada. She developed a deep love for books from a young age, and when combined with her insatiable curiosity and vivid imagination, she is able to paint vivid narratives for her own readers. Newsome also began writing in her teenage years with poetry and had a few poems published in anthologies from her submissions.

When Newsome was little, she remembers telling her teachers and parents about the big words that she had learned, and wants to share that experience with her readers with this debut series.
